In This Course:

– This course gives ‘free’ or participation marks.
– Assignments/exams are marked fairly.
– The lecturer does not just read off the slides.
– Staff will not really give good assignment/exam hints.
– You can NOT do the whole course online.
-This course HAS a final.
– The textbook is actually necessary.

Overall Comment:

Personally found the course to be run a lot better than other first year science courses. The workshops are not too difficult, and are worth 10%. The first assignment is a walk in the park – an easy 6%. The ethics component is not as well run, and the assignment feedback was not particularly good. Plenty of past exams available on the website used exclusively for STAT1201, so the exams are fairly predictable. You can take your textbook into the mid-sem, so owning the text is a good idea, and you can take a double-sided A4 sheet of notes into the final.
